Either from the factory, the PO, the forgetful mechanic, or however it got there
In Forest so far I have found a needlepoint eye glass case with a ladybug motif, a ticket stub from 2010 and these keys for a Toyota.

Concrete dust in the trunk, a hair clip, and $1.62 in change. Oh, and a french fry which is kinda nasty because I had the car for 4 months before cleaning it because the dealer had detailed it when they got, which was 3 months before I bought it. So it had a french fry in it for at least 7 months and the fry still looked ok...

A big bag of collectable coins under the spare tire in the trunk. It had lots of Germany nazi coins inside along with a bunch of other really old stuff mixed in. Took it to a coin shop and cashed them in because it was 2 years after we bought the car think I got about $300 total but most of that money was from a stash of pre 1960's quarters worth a decent amount due to silver content.

I like to go to do-it-yourself junkyards specifically for the purpose of rummaging through the cars. I always find more than enough change to make up for my dollar admission (and then some) and plenty of other things. Legos are my favorite, because who doesn’t still love those things?
I also find a lot of pesos and Korean coins, since my neighborhood has massive Latino and Korean communities. Oh, and my tool box always comes home heavier than when I left it, because every work van has at least a screwdriver left behind.
Best individual find would be a winning lottery ticket worth $10. Seems they never got around to cashing it in before wrecking the car, and then just assumed it was trash when they removed their belongings.
Oh, I also find plenty of gift cards! Almost always less than 50 cents left, if anything, but I did get a Barnes and Noble one worth $3-something one time.
As far as cars that have been purchased? I found a Lego man hiding inside the door of my parents’ brand new minivan back in 2005. That’s about it.

I found a pair of pliers on the passenger’s seat of my truck.
The strange thing was that I owned that truck for over 18 years at that point. Turns out the pliers belonged to the guy who stole my neighbor’s TV from his back porch. The thief decided that my truck looked interesting, so he hopped in (it was unlocked), realized that nothing was worth stealing (no head unit installed), and decided to look for greener pastures. He was caught on my neighbor’s security camera and was later identified and put in jail.

Found an old credit card under the carpet of one of my cars. At that point I’d had the car about 12 years so it was long expired.
How about something my mother found in my FIRST car? In 1993 at the age of 17, I became the second owner of a 1978 Oldsmobile 98 Regency Coupe. White with a blue interior and blue landau top. 350 Olds Rocket motor, 4 barrel carb, Th-350 transmission. A couch on wheels with decent passing power after I got her fixed up. The first week of ownership involved new parts to include, spark plugs, wires, rotor and cap, a radiator for a Caddy with the 500 cubic inch engine and a slightly larger camshaft as the stocker had wiped a lobe under the previous owner’s watch.
The second week was back and forth to school. That weekend my mother decided it would be a good idea to clean the interior her way as I really hadn’t gone nuts on it yet and she was better at it than me at that point.
Let me preface this by saying that at some point, the previous owner or someone he apparently knew had seen fit to put a beer bottle underneath the front passenger seat.
Well, guess who got blamed for the beer bottle? Yours truly. Of COURSE I did.... The previous owner was a guy in his late 50s. He would NEVER do anything so careless...
2 weeks no car. An ass chewing beyond compare. Loss of trust. Neve ending questions about who was with me when the supposed transgression occurred.
4 days go by. My stepfather comes to me and says they realize it wasn’t me considering the amount of dust that had accumulated INSIDE the bottle. It appeared to have been there for months. Hell, the previous owner probably dropped it under there went he went to a redemption center.
Anyway, that’s how I got in trouble for something that had nothing to do with me.

The Niva contained nothing of interest except the oldest stick of Big Red gum I’ve ever seen. Other than that it was old parts mostly, it had been cleaned out pretty well before the sale. Same with my XJ’s, although one had a huge amount of pennies (rare find in 2016) in the ashtray. The KJ on the other hand was an insurance write-off, and hadn’t been cleaned out so well by the owner. Found a DS game (lego Indiana jones IIRC? Gave it to my sister) and a bunch of other kids-type litter under the back seats (cheerios, sinfully cheap jewelry), a thoroughly chewed chew-toy and a tube of fuchsia lipstick under the front passenger seat, and a couple dozen spent .30-06 cartridges under the driver’s seat (I don’t care to know, and I left them there when I scrapped it). The MJ had a super-old super-rusty NFG snap-on ratcheting wrench rusted onto one of the bolts behind the driver’s headlight, and a rewards card from just about every gas station chain in the glove box, as well as a Tim’s card that had about $8 on it. The score here is definitely the Tim’s card.
